Post-Global Financial Crisis, collateral utilization has transformed from being a means of providing liquidity to being one of the most quintessential monetary policies of central banks for risk management. Given the influence of central banks in collateral supply and recognition, the role of central banks in Asia is especially important to engage private participants to activate the dormant market. The upcoming seminar will draw attention to the current status of Korea’s collateral frameworks in the financial market and ponder on specific implementable measures. Moreover, the seminar will discuss viable policies that will facilitate the application of financial assets as cross-border collateral, which will further develop Asia’s capital markets and enhance financial stability.
